Centreville Front Porch Market

The Centreville Front Porch Market is located in the heart of Centreville, just north of Kentville in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley. Established in 2025, the part-time seasonal market is located at the front of the property at 1983 Highway 359, Centreville, Nova Scotia.

Owned and operated by Cee Machry, a mom with a passion for gardening, crafting, and baking, the market offers locally sourced products, most of which are grown, made, or prepared right here on the property. The stand is open seasonally from spring through early winter, with select products available for online ordering year-round.

Our produce is grown in small batches on the property. Everything is planted, tended, and harvested by hand without the use of large-scale farming machinery. We do not use chemical herbicides or pesticides on our crops. Produce is grown seasonally and harvested as it becomes ready.

Environmental Practices

We reuse and recycle materials wherever practical. Plant pots and growing trays are washed and sanitized for reuse, and bags, boxes, and other packaging materials are reused whenever possible. When new packaging is needed, we choose paper and kraft packaging with minimal plastic wherever practical.

Plant and produce waste is composted on the property using both traditional composting and vermicomposting methods, with finished compost returned to our growing areas. We save seeds and propagate plants where possible, reducing the amount of new plant material and growing supplies that need to be purchased each season.

Much of what we sell is grown or produced directly on the property. Our crops are grown and harvested primarily by hand without the routine use of fuel-powered farm machinery. Growing, producing, and selling on the same property also reduces the transportation required between production and sale.

For anything we do not grow, make, or produce on-site, we try to source locally and as close to home as possible. We also work to minimize food waste by donating excess produce to the Centreville Free Community Pantry.

Community Commitment

Community support is an important part of how we operate. A portion of proceeds from Centreville Front Porch Market sales helps support the Centreville Free Community Pantry & Little Free Library, located on the front of our property. These resources are available year-round to members of the community.

The pantry and library were established by Cee in 2025 as a way to provide additional support to the local community, particularly those experiencing food insecurity. With the nearest food banks located in Canning and Kentville, the pantry helps provide a more accessible option for people in the Centreville area, including those with limited access to transportation.

The pantry and library are primarily self-funded, with additional support from members of the local community. In 2026, the Centreville Free Community Pantry was included under a grant through the Annapolis Valley Food Council, providing fresh food credits for the pantry to use throughout the year.

The market also contributes excess produce directly to the pantry and works with other local independent growers to supplement the fresh food available alongside shelf-stable items. Excess plants and seedlings are donated to the Frugal Mom Food Garden to support its community growing efforts.

Donating to the Community Pantry

The pantry accepts donations of non-perishable, shelf-stable food and other appropriate items. All donated food must be unopened, in undamaged packaging, and within its expiry or best-before date.

We are unable to accept items that require refrigeration or freezing, food in glass containers, or homemade food. These restrictions are in place for food safety and storage reasons.

The Centreville Free Community Pantry is not a registered charity and cannot issue charitable tax receipts.
